About This Training:

Patient Privacy and Confidentiality in the Changing Health Care Environment: HIPAA, 42 C.F.R. Part 2, and Health Care Reform [Slides/Video] provides an overview of federal laws governing the confidentiality of health records, including alcohol and drug treatment records. The training discusses HIPAA and 42 C.F.R. Part 2, and answers questions such as:

  • How do the confidentiality laws apply in co-located and integrated primary care and behavioral health care settings?
  • How can patients’ substance use disorder treatment information be included in electronic health records systems?
