This two-hour webinar provides guidance about how to navigate issues central to most HIV confidentiality cases.

It includes a brief overview of New York’s HIV confidentiality statute and other relevant privacy laws, as well as a review of administrative and litigation remedies.

Participants will learn strategies necessary to counsel clients about options, choose legal claims, calculate damages, proceed under a pseudonym, and complete necessary forms.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Counsel individual clients about the pros and cons of different remedies for HIV confidentiality breaches;
  2. Identify administrative remedies and litigation strategies for HIV privacy breaches.
  3. State where to access sample forms and further help.

Audience:  Attorneys representing individuals in HIV confidentiality breach matters, as well as counsel for health care facilities, social service agencies, and other entities subject to HIV privacy laws.
