Alcohol and Drug Programs

The Legal Action Center works to reduce alcohol and drug addiction and abuse and the harm it causes to millions of individuals and their families and friends by:

  • protecting people in recovery or still suffering from addiction against discrimination and violations of privacy;
  • advocating for expanded treatment, prevention and research;
  • analyzing links between alcohol and drug problems and welfare, Medicaid, criminal justice and other systems and devising innovative responses to these issues; and
  • providing education, training, and technical assistance to service providers and government agencies on confidentiality, managed care, discrimination, and many other issues.

The Legal Action Center provides programs both Nationally and within New York State.
